Me encanta esta historia escrita por Charlotte Bronte. Ayer vimos con mi hermana la última versión de la pelicula. es preciosa, pero no se...me gustó mucho la primer versión dirigida por Franco Zeffirelli. Quizás porque fue la primera y quedó en mi mente mucho más o algo así. Esta última película, tiene una dirección de fotografía deliciosa, llena de hermosas imágenes para deleitarse. It´s really beautiful, but I don´t know...I think I like more the 1996 Franco Zeffirelli´s version. Maybe it´s because it was the first one and I always had that in my mind or something. Estoy fascinada con el arte precolombino. Siempre tuve la mirada hacia el arte europeo, que claro que encanta, pero recientemente con el master que estoy haciendo en historia del arte, estuvimos viendo todas estas increíbles culturas de Latinoamérica y realmente siento que descubrí un mundo mágico. Aquí en Santiago tenemos el Museo de Arte Prcolombino que es muy bueno y tiene unos catálogos online buenísimos y encontré uno que me gustó mucho porque trata sobre la joyería precolombina. No se puede creer lo increíble que eran estos artesanos y el manejo iconográfico que tienen. Disfruten de esta maravilla y si andan por estos lados no se olviden de visitar el museo.

I´m fascinated with pre-Columbian Art. I always admired european art but recently I studied in my master course of Art History all these amazing cultures of the region of Latin America and I discovered a new magic world. We have here in Santiago the great Museum of pre Columbian art and it has an incredible online catalogues and one of them catch my eye: a selection of pre columbian jewelry. I can´t believe the value of these artisans and the iconographic work. Enjoy and you can visit the museum of course...

Me gusta esta tienda aunque no es mi estilo, ya que tienen una onda muy kitsch, pero se puede encontrar lindas cosas y divertidas. "Ocho Fortuna" empezó con una tienda chiquitita en el Barrio Lastarria y de repente comenzó a crecer y ahora tienen varias tiendas desplegadas por ahí. Acabo de escuchar que hace muy poquito abrieron una tienda que solo se dedica a elementos de cocina, como platos, teteras, etc., y creo que esta tienda en particular me va a encantar. Les cuento después cuando esté por ahí...

I like this shop, although is not my style because is too kitsch sometimes, but you can find great and funny pieces. "Ocho Fortuna" starts as a small shop in Lastarria neighborhood and suddenly starts to grow and grow. Este post está muy atrasado...pero tenía que compartir esto con ustedes. Como todos los eneros, Santiago hace el increíble festival "Santiago a mil", un evento de teatro donde se pueden encontrar desde danza contemporánea hasta algún drama o comedia. Hay muchas obras para elegir, en mi caso elegí una de la compañía de Marie Chouinard "Le Sacre du printemps" and "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune ". Fue realmente surrealista en el buen sentido de la palabra, nunca había visto algo igual. Los bailarines eran increíbles, se movían de una manera espectacular, de pronto parecían animales mutando hacia seres humanos. Realmente disfruté mucho esta obra, fue muy inspirador y además claro, pasé un momento increíble!

This post is very very late...but I need to share this with you. Every january, Santiago has the amazing "Santiago a mil" festival, a massive event where all the theaters of Santiago presents a different show. There´s a lot of shows to pick, you have from contemporary dance to comedy, or drama performances. I choose one of Marie Chouinard company: "Le Sacre du printemps" and "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune ". It was surreal, I never saw a dance performance like this one. The dancers are great, you should see how they moved, like animals who mutated into humans or something like this. I really enjoyed this play and I really hope that you can see something like this, because to me was very inspiring and of course I had a great moment!

Esta tienda es para morirse de las cosas hermosas que tienen, desde papeles hasta libretitas. Cada vez que la visito me quiero comprar todo! y claro que es imposible, asi que esta vez me compré estas cositas: agenda, agenda de direcciones y teléfonos con frases de Jane Austen, Tarjetas con diseño de papeles murales chinos y sellos de goma. Estoy feliz!

This shop is to die for. It has a lot of beautiful papers and stationary, every time that I visit this place I want everything!, of course It´s impossible so I bought these beautiful things: Address book with quotes of Jane Austen, a diary, cards with chinese wallpaper designs and rubber stamps. I´m happy!

Tuve la suerte de visitar la buenísima muestra de Marta Minujín en el MALBA en Buenos Aires. La muestra estuvo espectacular y muy completa, se puede ver su vida, su trabajo, su tiempo y época. Siempre admiré mucho su trabajo y por eso me alegra que el MALBA reconociera su trabajo y trayectoria. Siempre digo que Marta es nuestra Warhol, no les parece? Además almorzamos con Sebastian en el cafe resto que tiene el museo, que es hermoso y todo riquísimo. Como suelo decirles, por favor si andan por Buenos Aires no pueden dejar de visitar este museo!

PD: solo quería compartir con ustedes que esta semana fue muy loca para mí. El martes me hicieron una operación de urgencia por un quiste, estoy super bien y recuperándome, pero fue todo un shock. Ahora estoy en la casa de mis padres descansando y obviamente me están malcríando mucho y claro, blogueando...

I was in the incredible exhibition of Marta Minujín at MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires). The exhibition was wonderful and very complete, you can see her life, her work, her time, I always admire her work so I´m glad that MALBA recognize all these years of work of this great artist. I always say that Marta is our Andy Warhol, don´t you think?. Plus and I told you this before, this museum is amazing, we lunched there with Sebastian and the cafe and resto is just perfect and delicious. As I use to say, please If you are in Buenos Aires, don´t miss this!

PS: this is very crazy, but I just want to tell and share with you that I had a little surgery this last tuesday, it was a kind of emergency, I had a cyst. , everything was so quickly. I´m perfect right now, but I was in shock. I´m in my parents home now, recovering and being spoiling by my family and husband, and of course blogging, I have all the time!

Comiendo una pastas increíbles, espectaculares en Buenos Aires en "La Tanita" con mi hermana Lucy. Se que Argentina es conocido por sus asados pero dejenme decirles que creo que la pasta se lleva todos los premios, la verdad que no hay pasta como la de allá!. Obviamente y creo que se debe a la gran inmigración italiana. Como plus en ese almuerzo estaba disfrutando de los libros de Jamie Oliver que me acababa de comprar (como pueden ver soy una gran fan).

Eating incredible, amazing pasta in Buenos Aires at "La Tanita" with sis Lucy. I know that Argentina is well known by its barbecue, but let me tell you that pasta is one of the specialities. We have a lot of italian immigration, so I guess it could be the reason. Also I was enjoying in that lunch the Jamie Oliver´s books (I´m a fan as you can see).

Esta tienda tiene peluquería, salón de te, una boutique y miles de espacios para jugar y disfrutar y pasarla bien. Lo mejor de lo mejor es que todo es tan rosa! lo amé!

I´ve always loved to play with Barbie, so you can imagine me when I found this amazing Barbie shop in Buenos Aires with my sister Lucy, we were so so happy!. This shop has a hairdressing salon, a tea house, a boutique and so many more places to play and have a lot of fun. The best of the best that everything is so pink! Loved it!

Sin fuegos artificiales por favor::No fireworks please

Afuera de un banco en Buenos Aires vimos esto con mi hermana y lo encontramos espectacular. Para navidad o fin de año como muchos saben hay miles de fuegos artificiales, pero especialmente hay algunos que hacen solo un ruido insoportable y los pobres perros están super asustados, no me gusta nada esto y por eso me encantó esto, es genial!

Outside of a bank in Buenos Aires we saw with my sister this great stencil. For xmas or new years eve you can hear fireworks everywhere, but there a lot of fireworks that only makes an awful and annoying noise and you can imagine poor dogs how much they suffer, I hate this so much, so I find this so cool!

When we are in Mar del Plata we use to go to Cauca´s cafe, a nice and beautiful coffee store. Of course we carry with us our summer readings. I finished the book "Nadie acabará con los libros" a very difficult phrase to translate, but it means that books will never die. This book is a conversation between Humberto Eco and Jean-Claude Carriere, a beautiful points of view about this subject. Between coffee and books we had a great afternoon...

Por supuesto y como todos los años pasamos unas vacaciones increíbles junto a la familia y el clima fue simplemente perfecto...

As every year we took a few days off to go to Mar del Plata. Located at 4 hours from Buenos Aires, this city is the place to go and relax a few days off from the hot days in the city. Of course we had a great time with family and the weather was just perfect...

La manzana de las luces::Buenos Aires

La Manzana de las luces queda en San Telmo y es un lugar realmente increíble. Es una cuadra donde se supone que comenzó la historia argentina y la manzana más antigua de Buenos Aires. Llena de historia y misterio, el recorrido es muy bueno y la guía es excelente. Demás está decir que el edificio y los alrededores son espectaculares. Si andan por Bs As no se lo pueden perder!

"La Manzana de las luces" is a place located in San Telmo and It´s really amazing. It´s a block where suppose the argentinian history has began and it´s the oldest block in Buenos Aires. Full of history and mistery, the tour is really good. Of course the buildings in that area are incredible. If you visit Buenos Aires you can´t miss this!

Fin de semana en bicicleta::Weekend by bicycle

Benetton tiene una muy buena campaña verde, te prestan una bicicleta por dos horas y podés pasear por todo Santiago y si querés más horas aún, volvés a cualquier Benetton y pedís dos horas más. Me pareció genial y además pasamos un momento super divertido con marido y mi hermana! Qué esperan para ir a dar una vuelta?

Benetton has a nice green campaign, they borrow you a bicycle for two hours and you can ride all over Santiago and if you want more hours you go again to any Benetton shop and ask for more two hours. I find it amazing and we had a great time with husband and sister! What are you waiting for? go for your bike!

Santiago design biennial

El mes pasado fue la bienal de diseño de Santiago (perdón por no publicarlo antes, pero la falta de tiempo me ganó), estuve realmente increíble, mostrando que el diseño en Chile es cada vez mejor, creativo y con terminaciones dignas de un mercado cada vez más influyente y en crecimiento. La bienal tuvo una parte del diseño chileno de la décadas del 30 en adelante, los diseñadores emergentes y finalmente trabajos destacados de estudiantes. La parte más floja fue la de diseño de vestuario, que creo que le falta más potencial o investigación, pero no había nada interesante. La muestra se hizo en la hermosa estación Mapocho, un edificio hermoso...

Last month was the Santiago design biennial (sorry for post this now, but i didn´t find the time, too busy) was absolutely great and showed once more that chilean design is good, creative and with amazing manufacture. The biennial was divided by time and history, 1930 and so on, new designers and students projects. The worst part for me, was fashion design, not interesting at all, I think this design area need to grow more. Also the exhibition was in the beautiful Mapocho Station...

Este hermoso centro cultural abrió hace poquito. Me encanta todo, desde el nombre, bien merecido por Gabriela Mistral, la gran poetiza chilena que ganó el Nobel de literatura en 1945. Este centro fue creado para diferentes eventos culturales, desde teatro, música, cine y la mayoría son gratuitos o muy baratos. La arquitectura es impresionante y está construida con alta tecnología. Por favor si visitan Santiago, no pueden perderse esta joya.

This beautiful art and cultural center is brand new. I love the name, from Gabriela Mistral, the great chilean poet who won a nobel prize in 1945, well deserved. This center was created for different cultural events from music, theatre, cinema and all of them are free or really cheap ticket. The architecture is amazing and very high tech. Please, if you visit Santiago, you must visit this jewel.

I love her work for being honest, ethereal and poetic. She take pictures of old objects of her mother, she thinks that these objects have her essence; also has a lot of works of scars, feet and hands. I think her work are very beautiful, full of meaning, deep and with a lot of identity.

La semana pasada estuve con mi amiga Pamela en este hermoso cafecito nuevo que abrieron en el barrio Bellas Artes llamado La Foret. La decoración es muy chic y muy francesa, parece un cafecito de París (bueno, quizás exagere, pero amé este lugar!). La comida es exquisita y tienen muchas variedades de té, y otra cosa que me encantó fueron las teteras, las tazas, los muebles...mmm quizás todo!

Last week I went with my friend Pamela to this amazing and cute new cafe in Bellas Artes called La foret. The deco is so chic and so french, looks like a Paris cafe (maybe I´m over reacting, but I loved it!). The food is great and there are a lot of varieties of tea, and another thing that I loved was the teapots, the cups, the furniture...maybe everything!

Este jueves pasado participé en un evento llamado 5dD (cinco días de diseño) en DUOC (una de los lugares donde doy clases). El tema de este año fue Diseño sustentable, y yo di una charla sobre el Museo de Diseño en Londres, del último viaje que hice a esta ciudad. Estoy feliz no solo por esta charla, sino porque hubo proyectos muy interesantes de los alumnos de la escuela de diseño.

This last Thursday I participated at event called 5dD (five days of design) at DUOC design institute (one of the educated institution where I taught). The subject of this year was Sustainable design, so my conference was about the Design Museum in London, my visit in the last trip to this city. I´m really happy not only with this conference, because the students were really into this subject, they made a lot of interesting projects.

Puede sonar extraño que abrimos una botella de vino francés que compramos en París para disfrutar un sandwich de prosciutto y una exquisita ensalada con repollitos de bruselas en escabeche que preparé una semana antes, quizás una comida muy simple para semejante vino, pero estuvo genial! el vino: sin palabras! y para rematar un increíble almuerzo tomamos un cafecito de Juan Valdez hecho en prensa francesa y un marquise de chocolate del restauran de papá, simplemente perfecto! Disfruten su fin de semana...

Spring is almost here and we ate at the balcony. It might bizarre to you that we opened a bottle of french wine that we bought in Paris to enjoy a prosciutto sandwich and a exquisite salad of brussels sprouts with "escabeche" sauce that I made a week after, maybe a simple meal for a "mr." wine, but it was amazing! the wine: OMG! and just for a perfect lunch coffee of Juan Valdez and a chocolate marquise of dad restaurant, just perfect! enjoy your weekend...

Hoy fue una tarde para cocinar. Vinieron mi amiga Nati, mi mamá y Lucy, mi hermana, a tomar el té. Hice un strudel de manzana y una mini torta de limón.

De cena, hice un salmón que no les puedo explicar el color increíble que tenía, con una batata o camote y unos tomates bien maduros. Todo estuvo muy rico y divertido!

Today was a great day to cook. I had the lovely visit of my friend Nati, mom and sister Lucy. I made a classic tea time, with apple strudel and a mini lemon cake.

For dinner later, I made an amazing and beautiful salmon with sweet potato and very fresh tomatoes. Everything was fun and very nice!

Vi este tip de Amsterdam in el blog Bloesem o Decor 8, no me acuerdo...pero es una tienda fabulosa! Estuve ahí con mi amiga Valeria (ella es de Argentina también, pero vive en Rotterdam) Pasamos un momento genial y esta tienda es hermosísima, me encantó todo lo que tiene. Además tiene un cafecito increíble, donde después de ver tanto diseño divino, se puede disfrutar de un exquisito almuerzo!. Espero estar de nuevo por ahí pronto...ayyy Amsterdam....te extraño.

I saw this tip of Amsterdam in Bloesem or Decor 8, I don´t remember...but it was fabulous! I was there and lunched with my friend Valeria (she´s from Argentina too but lives in Rotterdam) We had a great time together and this cute shop has beautiful things, I loved everything. Also it has a cafe, so you can see amazing design plus you can lunch there too!. I hope to be there again...oh Amsterdam...I miss you.

No pude encontrar muy fácilmente este museo, de hecho estuve a punto de darme por vencida y no ir y visitar otro lugar en Amsterdam. Eso pudo haber sido un gran error y menos mal que intenté encontrarlo sí o sí. El museo está ubicado en un hermoso lugar, pero muy escondido y es realmente adorable! no puedo explicarles la verdad...La colección es increíble e interesante, tiene una colección de carteras desde el siglo XVII hasta nuestros días. Una de las cosas más hermosas que tiene es el café. Tiene un jardín de sueños y unos interiores realmente que sacan el aliento, pude haberme quedado por horas y horas.

Pueden visitar el museo on line desde el sitio web. No se pierdan la línea de tiempo que tiene y por supuesto si llegan ir a Amsterdam por favor! no se pierdan de ir a este museo.

I could n´t find this museum very easily, and actually I remember that I thought to give up and visit another place in Amsterdam. That could be a totally mistake, I had a great time, the museum is located in a beautiful place and it´s so cute! I can´t tell...The collection is amazing and interesting, It has a bag collection from 17th century to these days. The most beautiful thing is the cafe. It has a very cute garden and the interiors are breath taken, I could stay there for hours.

You can visit the museum and see the collection on line. Don´t miss the timeline! and of course I you can travel to Amsterdam, please please don´t miss this amazing museum.

La próxima parada fue Bélgica, donde visitamos Brujas y Bruselas. Qué les puedo decir? fue absolutamente increíble. Nunca había estado en un lugar similar, parece que el tiempo se detuvo en la edad Media. No podía para de sacar fotos. Brujas fue definitivamente mi segundo ciudad favorita, recuerden que tengo a Paris en el primer lugar!

Next stop was Belgium, we visited Bruges and Brussels. What can I tell you? absolutely amazing! I´ve never seen a city that seems to stop time in medieval times. I couldn´t stop to take pictures. Brugges was my second favorite city, of course remember I have Paris in the first place!

Amsterdam estuve increíble! nunca había visto una ciudad así. Todas esas callecitas chiquititas, todas las tienditas, museos, bicicletas, la buena onda de la gente, el hecho de que vi dos partidos de la copa mundial ahí mismo, y un montón de cosas más. Les voy a mostrar solo unas fotos porque tengo muchas cosas más para mostrar y compartir que no tienen idea!

Amsterdam was great! I´ve never seen a city like this before. All those beautiful little streets, all those shops, museums, bicycles, the good wive of the people, the fact that I watched two games of world cup, and a lot of things more. La siguiente ciudad fue Londres. Soñé con esta ciudad desde que era adolescente, aquellos días de escuchar The Smiths, New order, Pj Harvey y muchos más. Siempre quise conocer Londres. Y fue todo tal cual pensé, todo perfecto!. Disfruté mucho esas callecitas, el museo Británico, el Tate Modern, el Big Ben, el double decker bus, pero mis lugares favoritos fue Notting Hill y Southbank. Amé absolutamente la tienda del Tate Modern, sufrí viendo todos esos libros hermosos de arte y diseño, eran una delicia!

Next city was London. I dreamed with this city since I was very young, those days of listen The Smiths, New order, Joy Division, Pj Harvey and so many more. I always want to go to London. And it was just like I thought, just perfect!. Ok, el viaje comenzó en Paris. Esto fue un problema porque Paris dejó muy alto el standard. Amé todas las otras ciudades, Londres, Amsterdam y Bélgica, pero sin dudas París fue lo mejor!. Comenzando con la buena onda de la gente, la elegancia en la calle, la abrumante arquiectura, la similiaridad con Buenos Aires, las artes, Jacques Louis David, los museos, la comida, el diseño y la moda, todo esto y más fue lo que pude oler en el aire y disfrutar de esta magnífica ciudad. Además nos quedamos en un barrio hermoso llamado Saint Germain. Paris je t'aime

Ok, the trip began in Paris. This was a problem, because Paris puts the standard very high, I loved London, Amsterdam and Belgic, but Paris was the best by far!. Start with the good wive of the people, the elegance in the streets, the overwhelming architecture, the similarity with Buenos Aires, the arts, Jacques Louis David, Museums, food, design and fashion, all of this and more are all the things that I could smell in the air and enjoy of this magnificent city. Hace mucho tiempo que no les muestro la producción de trabajos de este año de mis alumnos, la verdad que estuve con mucho trabajo y nada de tiempo, por eso este semestre no mostré mucho, pero hubo unos trabajos realmente increibles. Trabajamos técnicas gráficas, iconizamos animales tipicos de la fauna chilena, jugamos a intervenir el espacio en la sala basándonos en el street art y el último trabajo fue hacer libros para mirar, donde pueden encontrarse con títulos de la literatura clásica universal.

We worked graphic techniques, they made icons of typical chilean animals, we played in the classroom with a very fun exercise based on street art and the last one is a very interesting project of look books of classical literature.

Vi esta pelicula este fin de semana, no solo me encantó sino que amé la historia de amor y como está contada la historia, el vestuario que es increíble. Claro que conozco la historia, pero estaba pensando que es increíble que estas historias de amor entre monarcas no son muy usuales, pero esta en particular....me hizo suspirar mucho. Ya la vieron? qué les pareció?

I watched this movie last weekend and I loved it, not only it´s a beautiful love story, all the costumes and actors are really great. I know this story of course, but I was thinking that is not very usual this true love in queens or kings...but this particular story...take my breath away. Quiero llamar a este cebiche, Cebiche a la Rina, porque está hecho a mi manera, es mi interpretación y como a mi me gusta, después de haber probado varios. Obviamente me encanta acompañarlo con una ensalada de zanahorias con huevos y palta.

A este cebiche lo dejo macerar con sal marina, pimienta recién molida, aceite de oliva y mucho limón de pica. Luego le agrego jengibre, albahaca, cebolla morada, cebolla de verdeo, un poco de tomate cortado en cubitos y el toque final: los camarones. Se que no es de lo más tradicional y los más tradicionalistas podrían llegar a odiarme, pero la verdad, es que a mi me encanta....
